Hey everyone, trying to see When can we expect an updated iPad Air 5th generation?

I don't follow iPad updates very often, this is for my father who wants to get a new one. He like's the current iPad Air sizing but REALLY don't want to grab anything if it is going to updated soon? With the iPad Mini update I feel it may be around the corner?

Thank you!

Apple usually release iPads in October, so the Mini in September surprised us all. Some hope that the Air will come then, otherwise it’s likely March at the earliest.

I certainly wouldn’t want to pay full price for one now that the Mini has better specs than it. Perhaps a refurb Air 4 would be the answer, but I don’t know when they’re likely to hit. In the UK the iPad 7th has only just appeared and that was released a year earlier, but they do have the 4th Gen Pros listed, originally released March 2020.

I don't see why they didn't do it now. All they had to do was A15 + front camera.

Can't imagine the next update will be more than that even if they do it at another event.

I wonder if they’re aligning Air with the Pros in getting M-series chips? If that’s the case, perhaps next March with an M1 and the Pros get an M1X or whatever they’ll call it.

Blah all good points. I guess I will wait for October event, let's see if there is a surprise. Otherwise may have to just go Mini.

I have a feeling that the next Air 5 will be released in September/October next year with the new iphone 14's and get the A16 and maybe OLED, like how the Air 4 was introduced. Why would they release it in the next few months to potentially cannibalise the sales of the Mini 6?.

I'm just going to guess October because Apple's Back to School event ends next week (with the current iPad Air and AirPods being part of that promotion).
