When did iTunes start allowing you to stream purchased tv shows to iOS devices?

i was browsing the iTunes Store on my iPad and noticed a play button next to shows I had purchased, but weren't on my device. I tapped it and now you can stream straight from iTunes without using home sharing!? When did this change!? I longed for this years ago!

It requires iOS 10 and macOS sierra. You'd think they would have announced this, but they no longer have a page with all the new features of an OS

Seems odd that this would be a silent feature release, unless they they think their servers can't handle mass use.

Streaming iTunes video content from the cloud over Wifi has been available for a while. Only the option to stream over cellular as well is new.
