So, I am an admitted Siri hater. She has never really worked right for me, and always seemed to have promise, but never delivered. "Hey Siri" was always a bust, I could never get it to reliably trigger.

Fast forward to now. I have an iPhone X, and in testing things out, I decided to give Siri another shot, and I am floored! She works! "Hey Siri" triggers every time. Even from across the room. You don't have to pause, you can say Hey Siri and jump right in, and she gets it. And now she will make a note in Evernote. Is this iOS 11? The X?

I still haven’t found a use for Siri. I guess it’s slightly quicker to turn an alarm on but really it’s just as fast toggling the alarm on. So yeah, I dunno

i can barely be bothered to talk to people, I am too lazy to talk to technology on top of it. I only use it to set a timer or to find out the time when i am to weak to push the button of the alarm clock at night

Whenever I need to know something, I ask Siri who almost always fails me. Then I pick up the phone and open Google Assistant...ask it the exact same thing and it nails it every time. Siri is embarrassingly awful.

I Admit I have tried Google assistant on my iPhone and it is extremely accurate and quick to decipher what you're asking. But I do feel Siri has improved in certain areas with providing decent results and the responses have been more in detail from my experiences.

Yes, I’ll agrew that Siri has gotten noticeably better in iOS 11.

A week ago, I would have been on the same page with you, but today using her on the X with iOS 11, she seems much improved over before. Messages are being dictated with much more accuracy, she is responding reliably to Hey Siri. Something changed. I don't know if it is the X or iOS 11, but I would say others may want to try her out again.

I've started using Siri daily just recently, and I'm really surprised how well she understands Finnish. If I'm home alone I rarely write texts anymore, type out reminders, set calendar events and so on. That's all Siri. Hey Siri works like a charm as well.

When I'm out and about it's a different story, but the fact that when I do use Siri I don't even have to speak "formally" to her/it, if that makes sense, is a very welcome surprise indeed.

Let's us know when this happens! Less setting alarms, timers or reminders, pretty much worthless. Siri is either "busy" or brings up a Safari search doe whatever else I request.......disappointing!

Worked fine for me on my 6s since the day I bought it, 2 years ago. Granted iOS 10 and 11 has made Siri better but works as you describe on my 2 yr old phone

I really gave Siri a try, but finally recoiled in horror. What a nightmare. First the good: speech recognition is very good - it pretty much always figured out what I said. And... that's it for pros.

The cons: everything else. I tried to use it for easy and harder tasks. It failed both. The super easy it failed was such a profound failure I lost all hope for Siri - and I will not use it going forward. I have no idea if this ever happened to anyone else, but it happened to me multiple times, and it is 100% unacceptable. Namely - and I can hardly believe this myself:

Siri fails in Reminders. Astonishing. I will ask it to remind me of something in 20 minutes, or the next day - and half the time, it will utterly fail to trigger at the time it's supposed to. I know Siri understood, because the text appears and the reminder is set, which I can check. It just never goes off when the time comes! It practically bowled me over. Unbelievable. When I set reminders by hand, without Siri, in all these years it has not failed me. With Siri, it's so frequent, that I'd estimate about 50% failure rate. This is utterly completely unacceptable. If I cannot rely on Siri to make the reminder work, then I cannot rely on Siri at all. That's such a profound failure.

As to the harder tasks, every time I ask a general question, Siri just brings up a google search link collection, usually with wikipedia leading. Utterly useless. I can just google myself faster - so this functionality from Siri one can throw into the toilet.

Bottom line - to me, Siri is 100% useless.
