Hi, In order to be able to ask a few questions, I'm asking to get a sense of when users here first saw iOS and then first started using iOS products regularly (I'm making the assumption the two dates virtually coincide).

Please vote in the questionnaire/poll, above.

Thank you!

It was called iPhone OS when I started using it. I was one of the first with an iPhone in Australia, jailbroken OS 1.1 so it was able to be used without a US carrier plan.

It’s been three years for me.
I got the iPad Air2 in 2014 right after release.
Then my first iPhone was the 6S+ in 2015.
This year I upgraded to the iPhone 8+.
Probably next year will get a MacBook Pro as well.

I remember paying 10 bucks to upgrade to iPhone OS 3 on my iPod Touch 2nd gen. iOS has been my mobile OS of choice for almost 9 years.

Thanks for continuing to vote in this poll (question is above in the 1st post)

Wow, Apple actually charged users to upgrade mobile OS's at one time?? If so, does anyone know when that stopped?

I kind of wish Apple still did that still today. I think that'd force the door to remain open longer regarding users getting the option to stay with a certain iOS longer that might meet their needs better. I think prompting users to stop and think a little before automatically taking a plunge (and enabling users to vote with their wallet that way) would be help users communicate their preferences to Apple beyond the black hole that is "send user feedback to Apple" via their site. This would be especially nice since Apple does not allow users to review/rate Apple apps & iOS's online.

During iOS 7-11 timeframe.

I knew about the iPhone but didn't realize it was so good!

iOS 4 was free, not sure about 2.

It would really suck, like it did back then, if those updates were not free. iPhones are expensive enough and those updates come every year...

I don’t think the quality or freedom would improve either.

iPhone OS 1.1.4

First generation iPod touch. Jailbroke it after five days. The years from 2008-2011 was the best time at experimenting. Never got that fresh, new revolutionary feeling since 2008.
