When do new MBPs get Leopard

I think you can expect Leopard to become pre-loaded after a few days. Usually Apple's puts its resources towards shipping disks out and keeping enough stock in the stores.

However, after 6pm, they will include the disks for Leopard anyway, so I suggest you buy then. The upgrade will be simple, as you wouldn't have any programs yet.

Many thanks. I just like the idea of a clean install... don't want to put Leopard on top of Tiger and don't really feel like jumping in with a reformat and a clean install.

You don't need to do a clean install. Don't think of it as a Windows upgrade ;)

The upgrade process will be fairly simple and you won't notice any loss in performance, so if you need the mbp soon, I suggest you get it.
 
I myself am just waiting for MBPs to start shipping with Leapord and I'll place my order. Debating between going with the 15" 2.2ghz or the 15" 2.4ghz. It's all going to be on the refurb availability. I'm either going with the 15" 2.2ghz at the refurb price of $1699, or at the $1799 education price.

Or going with the refurb 15" 2.4ghz @ the $2199 price (minus $100 w/ a promo code = $2099)
 
If you look at the Autralian store, it says it now ships with Leopard, so I am not sure if it's pre-installed or you simple get Leopard and you have to install it. You can always make a clean install if you do not get Leopard already in there and like they said before me, you should not see any problems with performance.

I believe that for the next few days, the disks will be dropped into the box and after a couple more days (could be over a week) it will come pre-installed.
 
The Oz and Pome :D stores both say something along the lines of every Mac now ships with Leopard, but in the specs (for the MPB) the OS is Tiger... maybe Leopard comes as a separate install disk. Don't think I want to do that.... so will wait just a little while longer. :rolleyes:
 
In my experience, whenever I bought a new Mac, I never got OS X as its own disk. I would get install disks for that particular computer that feature the OS within it. So, in this case, they give you regular install discs for your computer, and an extra disc with the operating system?
