Just curious when are you guys expecting to see the news app to show up in the beta? I want to say tomorrow but I'm not sure if that's based on logic or my desires lol. So because I'm being biased when do you expect it?

My votes on tomorrow but I'm not confident.

There's no API for News, is there? So, there's no rush to push it out to developers. They might as well wait until the public beta.

Those just use an RSS feed, though. There doesn't appear to be anything developers would need to test.

The way I understood it, the News app involves content deals with some publishers. I think Apple said it'd worked out a deal with The New York Times for up to 30 free articles daily.

If that's the case, I wouldn't count on News showing up until very late in the beta stage, if it isn't held until GM.

Only tangenitally related, but does anyone else think there will be a News app for OS X this year?

Unlikely. For one, they'd probably have announced it as part of El Capitan. Also, apps like Maps and iBooks came to the Mac several releases later.

My guess is it'll come with 10.12 Orange County.

Yeah, I thought that they would have shown it somewhere in the Keynote if it was to be this year. Hopefully they'll add it next year.
