When do you think cell phone cameras will be of the same quality

I don't think they'll ever be fully on par but will continue to make strides. As phones get better cameras, cameras also get better. Similar to the console vs. computer gaming debate.

However, they still have one major pitfall, that is digital zoom instead of optical zoom.

I gave up chasing ultimate convergence years ago. More hyperbole.

A dedicated device will always be better at what it is dedicated to do. Similar to how a tablet cant really replace a laptop for me or mobile games cant really replace even handheld gaming devices.

Phones can be the jack of all trades but masters of none.

I was considering getting a Samsung Galaxy Camera or S4 Zoom just for the 23x and 10x optical zooms and Xenon flash. They wont replace phones, per se, but at least it opens up a slew of options for dedicated. cameras.

I figure, put Android onto OTHER gadgets that isnt only a smartphone and tablet. I hope Canon, Nikon, and Panasonic considering putting Android onto their future cameras.
