I have convinced myself to pick up the 1st gen iPad Pro 11”. Looking for the Wi-Fi 246gb model. It’s currently not in stock at Apple’s refurbished page. Does anyone know if new inventory is added Willy nilly or on a schedule.
Thank you

I check the iPad and Mac Apple refurbs daily just for the fun of seeing what's moving and what's new. There isn't an update schedule, although it seems they're updated on weekdays and not weekends. Some days there are large inventory updates for a particular device, so it's a bit hit or miss. It would be nice if there was an option to be notified when a specific config became available.

The iPad Pro 11"s go pretty quickly especially that 256 config. Hope you'll catch one soon. Good luck.

I think the coronavirus has screwed things up. I wouldn't expect the model your looking for on the refurbished store anytime soon.

As far as I'm aware, it's updated randomly. But, unsurprisingly, I have noticed that due to the current situation, the additions are definitely as often as they are at other times. Your best bet might be to set up an alert on RefurbMe, in my experience it has been very accurate.

Down south
I’ve been wondering the same, although it seems fairly random to me. I had 2 mini 5s in my cart yesterday for 2 of my grandsons, but only bought one. By the time I heard from my other daughter and got back on to order the second, they were gone. They had them pretty much all week. Now I’m back to watching for another one.

I am sure they fly off the virtual shelf. I have noticed that Apple's pricing for these refurbished units seems to be the best by far. On B&H they had a gen 1 unit that was advertised for $70 or $80 less then you could get a gen 2. Similarly on eBay used units. Most end up selling for more than $700

Based on years of buying refurbs, I put a lot of trust in Apple's refurb process over other vendors, in no small part because of the one year warranty and availability of AppleCare if needed. I have never had to have a repair on any refurb, but have on a couple of new items.

I can vouch for the refurbished items, as a student accustomed to working in halls the pandemic made me start cooking the battery on my rMBP so I decided to get a specific iMac config. Well, it gave me cause to and I must have waited about a week.

I found in this time that most products update around 6 AM BST, while that is on the UK store the website I used for notifications showed me many other Apple Stores updating at this time for a significant stock. I’d definitely recommend a refurb tracker website, and there are other restocks at random times but that one has proven the most fruitful!
Hope this helps,
-ANS

edit: And usually by 9AM BST the store had moved a lot of weight, my iMac config had proven a challenge as it’s BTO and refurb tracker shows you latest movements.

UK store tends to update between 1am - 2am. Sometimes app store first, sometimes safari.

The US Refurb Store doesn't seem to update on any schedule, although it does seem to be after 9 AM PST.

That’s odd. I’ve been looking for the 64GB for a couple of months now. I FINALLY was able to snag one earlier this week, but the entire time I’ve been waiting, I’ve seen 256GB listed multiple times. I don’t need all that storage so I was just waiting for the cheapest model. I’m glad I was finally able to get one.

I was also looking for a 64GB cellular iPad mini 5 for a long time. The 64GB Wi-Fi models and the 256GB cellular models show up all the time, but I was never able to find a 64GB cellular model on Apple's site by the time I found a renewed model on Amazon for $420. That was already like $30 cheaper than Apple will put it for and there was no tax, so even more savings. And the iPad I received looked brand new and hasn’t had any issues yet.

Or be able to prepay for a particular config and just have it ship out when it's ready.
