Quick question about any possibly Nano updates. I'm looking to buy a Nano in the next week or two, and have heard the rumblings about a new Nano coming at WWDC. Now, my question is, would they announce this the first day? Or the last? I'm willing to wait a few extra days if need be, I'm just curious.

When does new stuff get announced at WWDC?

WWDC is a Professional/Developers conference.
There is not likely to be anything released in any of the iPod lines, nor MacBook, iMac or Mac mini. This year's WWDC will most likely be dealing with four things:
- 10.5 preview
- Intel PowerMac replacements
- "Merom" based MacBook Pros
- Progression/performance of Universal Applications.
Anything else that is due for an upgrade or replacement will most likely come in the form of either a "Special Event" or stealth, internet-only release.
That being said, the Keynote is in the morning of the first day of the conference, it will most likely NOT be webcast but later in the day will be available for viewing online on the Quicktime part of Apple's website.

Anyway, new products may be introduced at WWDC, but basic updates are rarely mentioned, if at all. Why should they? They just update on a random Tuesday and that's enough.
The main topics covered will be:
1. OS X Leopard
2. Intel Transition
3. "Merom."
4. PowerMac replacement.
5. Another new product of some sort (I'm not saying there will be one, but if there was a new product like a piece of software (eg: a new spreadsheet program), the developer's conference wouldn't be a bad place to introduce it)

Yes, I think if anything iPod gets discussed, it would have to do with the accessory market and the ability of the 3P market to make and sell new iPod toys...
Since Apple is ahead of schedule on the Intel switch, hopefully we will see 10.5 start shipping later this year.

Hmm, dunno about this year. Let's be fair here, the development community (to the best of my knowledge) really doesn't know much about what is coming in Leopard beyond Boot Camp. It seems somewhat unlikely (or irresponsible) that Apple would preview the new OS in August, perform sufficient beta testing and get the final OS out on the shelves before the end of the year. With Tiger we had a good 9-10 months before the final OS hit the shelves following the preview. If Leopard can be released this fast after the preview then I'm going to be very surprised and worried that it's not going to be delivering much (or is full of holes).

Dang, I was hoping for a Nano, kinda based on the Think Secret rumors which were put up on MR's front page. I guess they're just that - rumors - but I still hope! Putting off a purchase until WWDC!
