I'm using the Pencil on iPad Pro 12.9 mostly for handwriting, not all day every day. So it isn't heavy use like someone drawing all day and so will probably be a while before I need to change the tip.

People who have already changed the tip ... What happens when it is getting worn, what are the signs .. Performance issues? Does the tip change physically, get blunt or jagged or something?

It'll wear like a lead pencil but much much slower unless your using a Matt screen protector. To be honest I've used mine daily and it's showing no signs of wear. It's still as 'pointy' as when I got it.
