When does the madness end?

Step 1: Buy wife 32g wi-fi iPad. She was happy with her kindle and did not want the iPad, now she loves it.

Step 2: Buy 27" i7 iMac for myself. My dell XPS 9100 would not capture HD video via the firewire port, after spending more then a few hours on the phone with dell and MS, they could not tell me why it does not work. Reading on google its a W7 issue. So my 11 month old dell went on ebay and is gone.

Step 3: I have a Gateway i5 laptop with BR, HDMI, ect. Bought it back in Feb. Got the MBP fever, so now I am typing this post from my new 13 MBP. The gateway is on ebay right now. The build quality on the gateway is junk compared to the MBP.

Step 4: Our 7 yr old daughter has my 3 yr old dell desktop, my wife uses it as well. The other day it got some deep spyware. I jumped thru a bunch of hoops doing a network safe start and used malware bytes to remove the spyware. It comes right back. Found someone that will fix it for $85. Do I really want to invest $85 in a 3 yr old dell? So today I was about to go to staples and get her a quad core, W7, 4gb, 750gb HD HP PC. They are having a sale on it and with a $50 off coupon, I can get it for about $400 with tax. Then I started looking at the 21.5 refurb iMac's, under $1000 with tax. Big difference in cash, but I am so sick and tired of having to mess with PCs. I hope the iMac will last 4 years.
 
As a shareholder, this is what I like to see :)

As a macbook pro owner, I'm also in the same boat. Soon to get an iMac for home. Maybe an iPad in the future too.
 
The madness ends when everything in your computing world is Mac. At least that's how it worked out for me. Even managed to get a 'test' Mac at work. Life is good.

WRONG ... once you have all that :apple:-stuff you are already addictive and slide into the refresh cycles ... :eek:
writing that from my new iMac while reinstalling my old MacMini for my son :D

I'm sure I will not get a new iPad early next year (say someone with three iPod's spreading around the family) :rolleyes:

and I find myself feanin for a Mac Pro...but I just can't really justify that one:p
it's really a disease, theres some kind of subliminal brainwashing built into the displays and the aluminum bodies.
 
Ive got the apple disease too. At the beginning of this year I didn't own a single apple product, then my ****** old Dell died and I picked up an iMac. Its all been down hill since then. Now I've got a MacBook, iPad, time machine, Airport extreme, ipod touch, iPod nano, iPod shuffle, and I'm waiting for the new iTV. Not to mention the ridiculous amounts of cash Im spending on iTunes now. I need help.
 
I can understand...

It all started in 1993 when I got ahold of a NeXT cube
1994 I got a NeXT Turbocolor
About the same time I got a Daydream Box and was running OS 7 on the NeXT as well as the native OS.

1998 I switched to NT

October 2001 I saw OS X on the iBook, and it reminded me of NeXTSTEP. I needed a UNIX based notebook for grad school, so I bit.

November 2001, the disease took root:
19" LCD Studio display, 800MHz dual-core Powermac.
Then (in no particular order):
Graphite Airport base station
G4 "flowerpot" iMac
10GB iPod
1st gen iPod Mini
3rd gen iPod
iMac G5
1TB Time capsule
1st gen iPod touch, then one for the wife
'97 iMac Core2Duo Extreme
'98 iMac C2D
64GB 3G iPad
32GB 3G iPad
Mid 2010 i7 iMac.

It just never ends....
 
Good to know I'm not alone.

How could I forget the MTP. When I told my daughter of her "new" iMac, she kindly asked if she could have one of those "magic things" as well. :p
 
Nothing's forever but I know a good thing when I touch it...

I used to build all my PCs (and thoroughly enjoyed that experience), but I'm a convert now. It started for me when my kids got me an iPod touch.
 
is all this a must??

Frankly and with hands on hearts and in all honesty unless your job is of the professional caliber such as film-editing, sound-artists, photographers, graphic-artists, etc or similar, needing all this stuff for your profession.
Your average Mac guy hasnt got a clue of all this and could really do with just the basics.
Friend of mine listens and DL all kinds of music and this guys office looks like the on-line editing suite in the Burbank studios and for what? amateur stuff.
Sure if money is no object, fair enough but for the poor guy that spend all his savings just to fork it out on Mac stuff he doesnt even need? crazy.
 
I have a small 9-person company. Recently convinced the last holdouts to dump their PC's and go to Macs. Now have 17 macs, from Mini's to Mac Pros including personal macs. Even my wife and sister have macs. Thank you Apple. I haven't needed IT help in a year to maintain this stuff.

BTW, the MacMini's made great office machines, with 8gb memory, 500gb drives, each supporting two 24in screens.

Same here I do Ad-photography for AD-agencies, one of them has just furnished some 17 employees with mainly iMac-27 and a few MacPros. Now these guys are Graphic-artists, etc, i.e. no pushovers.
Most of their iMacs have got the yellow tint and grey bars but they dont care.
Although its no excuse for the Apple QC.
