When I get the iPad, will it sync with all of my contacts and calendar that is on my iPhone? I will need to get my 1300 customer data files to sync with both the iPhone and iPad. I do have and use Mobile Me.

No, it will not sync with your iPhone. It will, however, sync with MobileMe just as your iPhone does, so the actual answer is that yes, all of your information will be synchronized across both devices (via MobileMe).

Yes, it must be via a 2ed or 3rd device.

Because both iPhone and iPad a USB Client devices, it is technically impossible for the 2 to sync directly.

(If they used FireWire it would be possible, becuase FW is smart cooperative bus system.)

There are many answers to this. If you don't have Mobile me, presumably you currently sync your phone with a computer of some sort. I think that when you sync the iPad with that same computer all the contacts would be transfered as well.

A free alternative to mobile me would be to use Google Sync to sync your calendar and contacts with a Google account. Thats what I do and it works great.

Thanks folks, tried GMail on my Mac and it completely messed up my calendar and contacts. I lost info, and it scrambled up lots of data. So I keep them separate now.
