my AW6 asks me for the six digit numeric password when I first put it on, and again at any point during the day if the watch loses contact with my arm whilst I'm wearing it (eg: stretching / moving the Solo Loop band) - this is security for your iCloud information etc. There's a toggle for Wrist Detection under Passcode in the iPhone AW app.

as an AW noob I was initially entering my code into the watch diligently each time, until I realised that it unlocks automatically next time I open my iPhone with FaceID - again a toggle under Passcode on iPhone app.

I mostly use my AW for activity tracking and a tone / buzz for Calendar reminders & don't often look at it directly for notifications etc, so it doesn't bother me for it to be locked intermittently.

I recently switch to a Nike band after getting the Nike AW6 from my SS series 6 with sport band... this kept happening with the Nike band. Switched to the sport band of my old watch and have not had the problem since. It could definitely be that it got moisture between the sensor and your wrist. Try another band type of it keeps happening.
