I was wondering when you guys think the the Mac mini is going to be released. I know a lot of you think it is July 25, but after 9to5mac's release saying there is not going to be hardware launched with mountain lion.

EDIT: Sorry about the incorrect grammar in the title.

It's been out for several years.....

:p

I'm not sure. I just acquired my first MacMini a few months ago (sig). I'm debating on waiting to see the specs of the new ones or just get a current one and be done with it.

I went with September. (Just a guess. I figured others would say July. I figure it will (hope) with ML release.)

I highly recommend you wait. It will be worth your while if you wait just for USB 3.0. You will also get a better video card and a faster processor. It is only a few more months hopefully.:)

I'm almost sure it comes together with Mountain Lion (or a few days after it) in the end of july. That's the only date that makes sense. If they release it in october, everyone will wait for the new processor generation, which should be release early next year (so just 3 months after a potential october Mini release).

linky please?

Apple should release it next week.

One unpopular notion is that Apple wants notebooks to be 90% of their Mac sales (Steve Jobs predicted on All Things D). If Apple still wants that goal to happen then don't expect the Mini to be updated anytime soon.

They want to reach that goal. But not by reducing their desktop sales - they simply want to increase their notebook sales.

There you go. I hope it isn't true though, but if you do read closely it says the overnights will be smaller meaning it could be the mini!:)

I agree. Why would Apple want to get less sales by getting rid of their desktops?

That's an incredible business stretegy. I didn't realise Apple was run by imbeciles, so I am going to sell my shares today.

Apple will follow the market tends. The market is moving towards portable computers, yet desktop sales still bring in a sizeable chunk of all Mac sales. The notion of Apple forcing people into laptops is a ludicrous fallacy.

Cuz there was no official announcement from apple. And I read somewhere it was saying that macrumors was saying the mini is end of life. But anyhow there was no official announcement and no other proof that it needs to be refreshed any time soon or that it ever will.

I highly doubt it, because we all ready know that the mac pro isn't dead, and I would think they would kill that before the mini.

Apple can be slow in updating the Miini. The ealy 2009 version was quite a long time in coming and badly needed to update the prior version.

I am quite keen on a new one, but don't really expect a new model before autumn. In my little fantasy world I still hope the optical drive is coming back, but knowing Apple it is not going to happen.

A few days ago, someone posted that the new 2012 MacMini would be out around the 9th of July, and as we know, that did not happen. No one knows when it will come out, but only a guess by those that respond. I would just take a deep breath and just wait. ;)

I try.:D

I do not see them killing it off, that would be a HUGE mistake. Based on sheer quantity I bet they make more money on mini's.

Not at all. They sell more laptops than desktops, and of the desktops, the overwhelming majority are iMacs.

And whether it's iMac or MacBook, it sells for a lot more money than a Mac Mini

I was replying to where this was posted, pro's and mini's:

"I highly doubt it, because we all ready know that the mac pro isn't dead, and I would think they would kill that before the mini. "

I know the laptops sell for more and they sell more of them, but I guarantee they sell a LOT more mini's than mac pro's and it's profit that matters not which sells for the highest price. That's what I was talking about. I don't think anyone in their right mind would claim the mini's outsell the laptops or imac's.
