When is the next Intel-cpu slated for the iMac released?

Hi all,
Is it reasonable to expect a refreshment of the iMac in the Spring of 2018? I have kind of gone lost in the intel road map. As I undertand it, there a new delay has recently been announced. But is this not for the one after the next? Are we not to expect another refreshment of the current design before moving to a new cpu-design?

All in all: If apple only releases an iMac-refreshment when a new cpu is ready, when will this be the earliest, then?

Intel Coffeelake CPUs coming out early next month would seem a good fit for an update next year.

Thanks, I just see that macrumors have updated their page on the iMac with this information just now with reference to this page: http://www.businesswire.com/news/ho...el-Unveils-8th-Gen-Intel(R)-CoreTM-Processor/
So:
- 7th. gen = Kaby lake, what we have now.
- 8th. gen = Coffee lake, available from October the 5th 2017.
- 9th. gen = Cannnonlake, delayed until late 2018: https://www.macrumors.com/2017/09/20/intel-cannonlake-end-of-2018-delay/.
- 10th. gen = Ice lake, coming shortly thereafter.

This really speaks for an early 2018 update of the regular iMac. It will be interesting to see if this is just a refreshment or if the rumors of a redesign are solid.

Also don't forget the AMD refresh to Vega. I think Navi won't arrive until end 2018 and then initially for high-end.

So yes, March 2018 is likely with Coffee Lake CPUs and AMD Vega GPUs.

Unless you need a iMac asap... of course we still get the iMac Pro somewhere before Xmas ;-)

Well, no, I am holding out. I know from experience how bad it feels to buy a mac and then to see a refreshment announced some months later . Also, I would like apple to work on the noise issue which seems to bother quite a few. Perhaps they will let the cooling system from the iMac pro find its way into the iMac. That would be great .
