Hi,

I've had the 6s for a couple years now, run over my contract and was waiting for the iPhone X to drop in price which I heard it would this September due to the announcement and the release of the new models. Recently I dropped it and haven't got insurance or anything so I just left it and waited for the iPhone X to drop in price to buy it. I'm currently using an old 5 of mine while I wait and I'm just so eager.

I'm wondering when the best time to buy will be. I won't be buying the phone outright, I'll be getting it on a two year contract and I'm from the UK. Currently the deals that interest me with the suitable minutes/texts data are around £58 a month with no upfront cost. This is a total cost of around £1392 over the two years.

What should I expect the price to come down to and when would be the best time to buy, would it be when the new models are released of announced?

Cheers!

A few months after the new phones are released. There will be deals and BOGO's on the X. Plus lots of people will be selling their X to get the new model. Cycle of life.

Will they drop in September at all, and if so would it differ between announcement date and release date?

It's anyone's guess. If you can predict that, please tell me the winning lotto numbers for next week please :)

This could all be wrong, but according to the rumors it appears that Apple is planning on throwing out the iPhone X, rather than reducing its price by $100 as they usually do. This would be in line with Apple's treatment of the iPhone 5 when the iPhone 5s and 5c were announced. Although, as it was reported back in 2013, many carriers and retailers put their remaining iPhone 5 units on sale to clear inventory. I could see this happening again this year! New iPhones introduced, Apple stops selling the X except for refurbished devices, perhaps, but carriers and others still sell it at a discount. I hope this was helpful!

The x will probably be discontinued and the new XS will probably be cheaper either $799 or $899 this year. So just wait less then 2 more days and find out

Don't think the XS prices will be any cheaper since it will be an improved version over the current phone. The Plus side will be priced accordingly (read: higher by $50 to $100) of course as it will be more expensive to build.

Yeah well it’s just speculation right now. I’m just saying the phone is “suppose” to be cheaper then the current X.
I totally agree. $899 is $100 cheaper, that would be very generous for Apple. $200 and I would think I was in a episode of the twilight zone! You going to keep your X? I know you haven’t been happy with it.

I doubt carriers will continue to have the X past the end of September if the phone is discontinued. Might be able to pick one up at Best Buy or something.
Im hoping the X is discontinued because I plan on selling mine. If they keep it around the price of these in the market will take a huge hit.

Yeah I’m gonna keep it another year. I like the phone I’m just not a Hugh fan of Face ID. But I don’t think there gonna release Face ID gen 2 this year so I might as well wait and see what comes next year, what about you. Are you upgrading or keeping your current device?

If any iPhone is discontinued, it will be the iPhone 8 series. But that’s my opinion.

Tomorrow is the day we get the details and some carriers announce their deals same day. My carrier gave "free" iPhone 7s on two year contracts w/ a 6S trade in. Last year, they only offered a crappy $300 off any of the new iPhones.

I am going to take whoever offers the best offer, between Apple or T-Mobile USA, to trade in my 8+. Not worth the hassle trying to sell it because I have had my fair share of trouble dealing with people on Swappa.

I’m on the IUP so I’ll be getting the XS. I would keep my X because it’s an amazing phone but, the gps on it is very hit or miss. I’ve tried everything to troubleshoot and correct the inconsistent performance but, I’m convinced it must be a hardware issue because my backup 6S is always spot on in comparison. Other than that, the phone has been flawless...

eBay (and Craigslist if shady deals are your thing) will be FLOODED with iPhone Xs following the announcement. You may wait until the actual release of the Xs for maximum profits.

And eBay isn’t shady? Do You have _any_ idea how much potential fraud is on eBay every single day with Apple products? I would rather sell on craigslist or locally to have cash in hand versus being someone trying to keep my device and then make a fraudulent claim on eBay.

They are already showing up. Also apps like OfferUp and LetGo have them listed already. Most are showing $850+ which is high price considering you can get it new for close to that.

My prediction:

X will drop to 899
Xs will start at 999
Xs+ will start at 1049 (give or take)

I mean we do have a long running history of this.

Just a hunch.

$850 is an insane price considering the next iPhone X should cost new less than that.

I personally am willing to pay at best $700 for a used X, and that's pushing it.

The new xs ain’t be anything under 900$. For a 64 gig. Getting 850 for a x is a deal for people considering it was 1250$ new
I’d imagine the new 256gig xs will be 1050$

Don’t you think that if a new XS is $899 a used X should be $700? (with leftover new Xs costing $800 at most)

No,can_you_tell_me?

Yeah you could always do a warranty swap as well.
