When you are making a game does it matter which base of the project you use? Eg: Navigation-based Application, OpenGL ES Application, Tab Bar Application, Utility Application, View-based Application, Window-based Application.

Its going to be a small 2d game with animation etc, not really graphically intensive.

There is very little actual difference between the different project types, and it's entirely possible to create any type of app starting from any of them. You could end up creating an OpenGL-based game after starting with a tab bar application and all libraries will work regardless of what type of project you start with. Of course you have to make sure you include the correct frameworks.
