Hello,

I'm a bit frustrated with this Mini. Every time it goes to sleep for a while, then I wake it up, everything that I had on the desktop before, such as browser up, ichat on, and a program opened all is gone. I had to re-open the browser (re-sign in on Facebook, etc), ichat and other program(s). I thought it was the older version of OS Leopard that caused it so I upgraded it to Snow Leopard but the problem remains the same afterwards. How do I fix this?

Mini is late 2007 Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz with 2GB RAM.

Thank you very much.

Are the applications actually closed or quit after you wake your Mac? Have you verified this via Activity Monitor or the Dock or CMD+TAB? Maybe they just hide?
Have you installed any haxies or add ons for Mac OS X that could intervene with the OS and quit them? Have you done a clean install of SL or an upgrade install?

They actually quit, not hidden...when it wakes up, the desktop was back to its original appearance (like no browsers or programs opened/left on). When I went back to Facebook to sign in, my email addy was left on which means the browser was closed abruptly (comparing to signing out of FB and it wouldn't have my email addy left on as I don't leave the box for keeping it logged on checked). When I re-open the iChat, the original chat window with the comments is gone. I didn't add or install anything new. I used the full version of SL to upgrade it as I don't have the Upgrade version only. I didn't make a clean install 'cuz I didn't want to lose some of the files as I didn't make any backup (my external HDD isn't available at the moment). I plan to make backup before I do a clean installation. What is Haxie?

After I make backups, how do I make a clean installation?

Thanks!

I just discovered something new that might be the cause to the problem of shutting down the applications. Recently, a sign popped up asking if I want to log out/off as to close down the application(s) with the clock winding down. At first, I thought it was Facebook so I clicked "cancel" and it wasn't in the sleeping mode. It was idling as I wasn't using the computer. It happened a few times and I didn't think of it until just now as there's no application opened - just desktop and ichat window opened. It popped up again (probably 'cuz of ichat window was still opened, being idle?). So how do I turn off the automatic pop-up sign to shut down the applications?

Thanks!
