When my Macbook arrives, should I....

My Macbook is due to arrive next week sometime. Just got a couple of questions on what I should do and in which order:

I've already ordered and received my 2GB RAM that I bought from somewhere else. When the Macbook arrives, should I install OSX etc, THEN replace the RAM, or should I just dive in and change the ram FIRST, then install OSX.

any advice would be much appreciated, as I don't really wanna ruin something I've been waiting so long to get!

OS X will be pre-installed. All you will have to deal with is your memory upgrade.

I reccommend seeing if the macbook has any whine/moo issues before installing the ram.

Ok, well was planning to turn it on and see how it runs (moos whines etc) before I did anything. Then, install the ram, then all my apps etc.

You should calibrate your battery

Did you purchase programs for the macbook? If not and you are talking about the apps that come with the computer they will all be pre-installed and ready to go out of the box. Just check to make sure everything is good on your mb and then go ahead and install the ram. If OS X runs properly beforehand but not after the ram installation then you know you have an issue with the ram.
If everything works fine then enjoy your new macbook!

Catracho, thanks for the reply about the battery. I had wondered whether there was anything I need to do with it, as I thought it must be similar to a new phone battery which they recommed you charge for abou 24 hours on its first charge

This is not a PC full of bloatware. OS X really doesn't need to be reinstalled unless you want the added space on your HD if you get rid of all the other languages other then English and all of the other printer drivers then your own.
