So I just purchased my iPhone 11 (base model 128GB)

When you first turn the phone on it gives you a couple options...set up from iCloud backup, put beside your current iPhone, start as new and so on.

What's the best way to go here in setting it up from scratch. On my current iPhone 8 there is a ton of bugs and I don't want them carrying over to the new iPhone (if that's even possible, I don't know) if I select set up from iCloud backup....but at the same time I don't want to have to reenter 100 contacts and calendar appointments.

Can someone slap some sense into me here. Please and thank you.

Just setup as new using iTunes and don't use your backup. When you sign into iCloud you'll get pictures, settings, contacts, iMessages, notes, etc... You'll need to setup your email and Apple Pay and various apps as well as location services, privacy settings and wifi passwords..
