When the iCloud Beta expires

Hey,

I am beta testing iCloud on top of a friends dev account. I was wondering if anyone knows if the data on my iCloud so far will be deleted once the service goes live? By data I mean photo stream, new @me email, contacts, backups ect.

Also is there yet any word if we will be able to merge two Apple accounts? I have an old mobile me email that is not associated with iCloud or any of my previous purchases.

Apple have said that all iCloud data is subject to being erased at anytime, it's very possible that this may happen once Beta period ends. We don't know for definite tho. If I remember rightly, Game Center usernames got wiped between beta and official launch. Personally i'm keeping backups of contacts and my iPhone & iPad backups on the PC too.

No merging yet, Apple have said that this is not possible in the transition notes

I'd love to keep a backup of my calendars, but iCal no longer syncs!

They released an updated statement shortly after they allowed MobileMe migrations stating that Mail, Calendar and Contacts will not be subject to deletion and will continue to be available after the beta.

I think Documents and Backups can still be deleted by Apple at any time.
