...on the "video problems*,) I plan to buy an I7 iMac at my local apple store, but I'm wondering...are the I7's going to be an in-store model, or are they going to be BTO only, direct from apple?

I don't plan to have apple add anything to my I7, and I'd rather deal with a local store...

Anyone know?

* By which I mean, qualifying and quantifying the problems that are being reported, an acknowledgment from apple, and a published "fix."

Today, the i7 is a BTO only which means that i7's are not stocked in the Apple stores. This may change (you never know) but for now you can only get it either by ordering direct from either Apple or a few resellers.

And while I don't condone any wrong doing, but since it really isn't due to the wording in the agreement, my advise is to find a friend or relative that either works for the government (local, state, U.S., military) or goes to school (grade school, college, teacher) since you would save $120 off the i7 model.

I don't believe grade school qualifies.

According to the Apple store in Columbia, MD, the i7 will not be available in stores. Who knows if that will eventually change.

Thanks...

I have someone interested in buying my 3.06Mhz iMac*...and I suppose if that happens by the end of the year, whatever the problems are with the video will be satisfactorily resolved.

I am aware of the .edu discount!

* Actually, I'll sell it at a good price to anyone interested. It is in perfect shape!
