When to buy a mac mini???

Ok, if you didn't realise, it's Macworld tomorrow and Jobs will announce any new products, one of them likely to be an Intel Mac Mini.

well i suppose if they have DVR then i will shell out the extra, otherwise not interested
Not to mention, if there ARE new Mac minis announced tomorrow, there will undoubtedly be a flood of used minis appearing on the Marketplace here and on eBay in the very near future... there should be some good bargains.
(Myself, I might sell my Mac mini if one of the expected new machines tickles my fancy sufficiently.)

I think he meant that the £60 was the cost of the superdrive upgrade on the mac mini.. He is stuck with the mid range mini with no dvd burner because of this. While I agree with this to an extent, in the long run I would personally rather spend the same amount on an external dvd burner which would be a much faster drive and usable with more computers than just the mini.

so for example right now you can get a mac mini with DVD burner for under £450, but you have to go through your university network to do it unfortunately.

yeh i know, on the uni network now
yeh in the long run, but 21st birthday this year... mac osx 10.5 leopard as i understand is on horizon (and i would prefer a powermac or iMac 20")
this purchase is just for portability and to compensate for the poor build quality of the pc i have... hate windows and tbh, for 2 more years i cant see linux being a decent enough substitute.
