I know this is kind of a "silly" thread, but lately I've had a few financial mishaps (I'm Dutch and not completely sure if "mishaps" is the right word), and duo that I am not able to buy a new MBP for the coming months (probably for about 6 months).

So although I would like to buy one right now - I just can't. :(

I am curious when to expect the next update of MacBook Pro's, will that be in October with the new OS release or maybe more like 2008?

And if we get to see the update in October, do you think it will only be a software update (Leopard and such)? Or can we expect a few hardware tweaks aswell?

Just would like to know your thoughts about this,

(so I have something to look forward to aswell!)

only God knows but if at the time Apple decide to update the MBPro's, Intel have a new platform then the new Macs will most likely have the new hardware :D next Intel thing is codenamed Penryn and after is Nehalem.

They will probably update the MacBook Pro at MacWorld 2008. The updated MacBook Pro might include Penryn and maybe a case redesign.

Save the date! Macworld Conference & Expo 2008 will take place January 14-18, 2008. Registration will go live in August so stay tuned for details.

Ouch, that's still far, far away!

But gives me enough time to get the money ready!

yeah, jan 2008

that'll probably be the next round, with penryn and montevina, as well as bigger HD's

Montevina wont be the next update, its not due out until at least Q2 2008

Penryn mobile processors are due out in early 2008, so the next update will probably be around February.

The way Apple has been updating its product lines recently, I wouldn't expect anything (save a minor speed bump) until 2008...
