When to sell?

Need some advice from those experienced in buying/selling apple computers.

I plan on selling the ibook in my sig. to fund the purchase of a Macbook. I'm just not sure on when to sell it. I have seen the recent glut of ibooks up for sell on ebay and craigslist and I'm concerned if I put it up now I won't get much for it because it's a buyers market out there. I'm afraid if I hold off though, the value will also drop heavily as used macbooks start to enter the market. Another thing I'm thinking of is that as of this post, I have 70+ days left on my 1-year warrenty from Apple. Does it add that much value if it still has some time left in warrenty? I also plan on throwing my rebuilt 4G ipod. I'm thinking that should up the sale price some too.

My overall concern is when would be the best time to put it up for sell. I plan on using either craigslist or ebay and I've seen a large swing in prices, so I'm not even sure what I should expect to get for it. I just want to get a good price for it. Any advice or opinion would be apreciated.

P.S. I already know the best time to have sold it was right before the release of the macbook.

Well you are right on the money there. I dumped my iBook about 3 months before the Macbook release.

Sell now and here is why:

1: Apple computers will always sell, no matter what. I just sold a Powerbook g4 on ebay for $1650.

2: Even if there is a heavy saturation of iBooks, you will still get a respectable amount of money for it, if you do the right things to make it sell, for instance a nice looking auction on ebay.

3: You have 70 days left on the warranty, this is good and bad. Bad, because it is only 70 days. Good, because the buyer can still purchase Apple care and extend 3 years, drive that home that will be a big selling point for you.

So, sell now. Once it is out of warranty it will definetly lose value. Good luck to you.

i can wait to buy applecare for 364 days, then get another 3 years. i thought buying applecare only got the two years after the original warranty is up
