when using video ichat, picture is distorted on the other end?

when using ichat video with another person, their side of the video is distorted a little bit so often, but it is fine on my own end, why does this happen, its a brand new imac

I get this too every now and then. Not a hardware issue, just some sort of streaming content issue.
