They said at WWDC that the first ARM Macs should arrive later this year. I assume this would mean before Christmas.
So I'd guess it should be by mid November, otherwise there is not much time left for Christmas sales.

They could announce it next week, or it'll follow in the next 4-5 weeks.

I come from a land down-under...
After the announcement, how long will it take for the machines to be available?

Immediately?

After 2 weeks?

A month? Longer?

Looking at historical trends from https://infonewt.com/apple-release-patterns, it seems that pretty much all Macs, except the Mac Pro, are available immediately after their announcement, with the occasional delay of a week.

Because of this, I doubt (sadly) that they'll be announced on October 13, because we're still a fair way off the promised "by the end of the year". Mid-November seems more reasonable, in order to give another month or so to ramp-up production. I bet TSMC has a lot of work on their plates to produce the necessary iPhone 12 A14 chips, and capacity will be stretched for a new Mac at the same time.

I was hoping for arm based Mac on 13th October 2020, my Mac mini just died and now I have only one computer at home, and it (MacBook) sucks.

If you can wait 1-2 months i think you can get an macbook arm based
But i would not count on a mac mini arm, thats for next year

I don't have much of a choice, I am definitely not going to buy Intel based Mac. I am going to be replacing the present Mac mini. iMac or MacBook (arm based) would be good enough for me, I don't want to spend a whole lot on money that I don't have. Hoping for a configuration that I can afford.

The "Hi, Speed" motto could be an indicator that they plan to announce an Apple Silicon Mac, praising its "incredible" and "amazing" speed :)apple: always at the top of the buzzword bingo...)

I thought that too initially - that the speed thing was about 5G but also Apple Silicon. Now I'm not so sure, but who knows what Apple will do?

The iPhone is their absolute flagship product, so they might not want anything to detract from that and the focus will be on that along with related (in the loosest sense) products like the headphones, air-tags and mini HomePod?

But I also bet they want to get their first Apple Silicon Mac out there asap and its going to get massive headlines and coverage in the tech press regardless of when they announce it. Would it potentially overshadow the iPhone? I doubt it... The iPhone is totally mass market whereas its us nerds who'll be most excited about these.

Dont have hopes for mac next week...Apple wants an full event for their 2 iphone models iphone and iphone pro
And they will announce homepod mini, airpods studio, game controller, apple tv and maybe airtags
Since this year the big thing is the mac transition they will sure make an event just for that...since Apple made one just for apple watch and ipad air

I have the impression that they only announced the iPad Air last month so that they don't overload the October event... my bet is that the iPad will start shipping the same day as the new iPhones.
