A few years ago I got the leather MagSafe wallet with my iPhone 13. It was perfect, amazing, and slowly worn down as I expected. I got a new FineWoven wallet with the iPhone 16 and it is horrible. I hate it. It is falling apart faster than the last one and I am so disappointed. The guy on support tried to help me, but since there is no proof of purchase (it was a gift), and there is no other way to find the serial number, they are not replacing it. I tried to super glue it a month or two ago thinking it was an isolated issue, but it is so uncomfortable to use now.

No extreme heat, never dropped it and all that. I am just hoping that if anyone sees this, and is thinking about buying one, do not buy it. I love apple, but this is a horrible product. Even without this bumper issue, it still feels cheap and stays dirty.

Do you think apple would move on from this idea and kill MagSafe wallets as a whole, like the MagSafe battery pack, or do you think they will pick a new material? I still feel like not using apple leather is such a missed opportunity.

Honestly, I'm 100% confident it's counterfeit. The Apple logo looks to be too big (I aligned your first photo to a legit photo in Pixelmator Pro). And, the logo's edges are not as refined as the genuine wallet. And, the texture looks to be different. The pattern looks to be horizontal, while it is not that way on the real wallet as pictured.

Where was it bought? Mobile repair shop, mall kiosk, or one of those fly-by-night eBay sellers with no feedback? 100% guaranteed fake if that's the case.

100% purchased from the Apple Store online. After I got my 16 Pro, my mom wanted one too. She thought she would like the wallet as well and ordered it in the suggestions part of checkout with her phone. Unless someone intercepted the package at some point, it was straight from Apple.

What I'd do is contact Apple support because this was normal use and not intentionally destroying it. Hopefully they would honor the included 1-year warranty against defective products.

But first you need to ask the person who bought it for the proof of purchase in the Order History of the Apple account.

I got off support after an hour and they said it falls under “wear and tear” and there is nothing they can do, even after getting the original email with proof of purchase.
