When do you think Apple will lower the cost of Apple Vision Headset? Also, what do you expect it to cost? Waiting for an Apple Certified Refurbished one.

As per how they have been pricing their other models, they will likely maintain the same price.

For iPad and iphones, other retailers will offer promotions. However Vision Pro is sold only by Apple.

If you wanna wait, you will have to wait for new or lower cost models, which will likely be around 1 year later. Why not try to find a mint second hand set?

I just wanna say that I have felt that this was a product that was out of my price range for the past year and I finally gave in a few days ago and I feel like this is a life-changing device right here. If something happened to my Vision Pro I don’t care what I would have to do or what bank I would have to rob I would get another one.

I kinda agree with you. I used to be happy editing on the 16” MBP. Now I wished I got the 14” MBP as I now edit on the huge screen in AVP

Just tried the demo and it’s brilliant and amazing. Getting one on my birthday.
Congratulations in advance. I got one after the demo too. It was too impressive.

Before that, I was one of those who thought it was an overpriced gadget which I will get sick of in no time.

After the demo and os 2.2, it is a wonderful complement to the Mac!

I have a quest pro and hate the quality of the software. Can’t wait to try the AVP. The price is extremely high!

How do you find wearing it for many hours a day? Is it very heavy?

There will be a consumer focused version later.

Also, I'd much rather see what comes with that because based on my experience with various VR headsets, I really think apple screwed up with the AVP design and it would be much more comfortable with a headband that ISN'T the same part of the device as the displays (like the PSVR2).

I've used the quest2, quest3, HoloLens, psvr2 (have not used Vision Pro, but can see from the design how it fits your head) and hands down the most comfortable device is PSVR2, because you're not holding the device to your head by clamping down on your face (it has a pad for your forehead and there's no pressure on your face).

I'm sure apple will "get it" at some point, the Vision Pro is a v1.0 (or earlier) version of what is coming mainly aimed at developers and early adopters.

I am definitely coming around to the thing after trying out two separate demos at Apple, and the 2.0 update, but it still lacks a lot of real uses, and the idea of spending $4k plus after it is all said and done is still just to much for me. I would think a much cheaper, and technically more superior version that isn't quite a M5 Vision Pro, but possibly using next years (or year afters whenever it came out) latest A series chips so it could be much smaller and a "one size fits all" for $2k-1.5k. I imagine they would make a cellular version of it also using their own chips so they can also subsidize it. Because let's be real, the Apple Watch wouldn't have even sold half of what it has so far if people couldn't get it at a cell carrier.

Give it until 2026-2027 before this is a mainstream apple product. There's a lot of technology converging on this being a cheaper more viable product, whilst the AVP is impressive in terms of display tech, it is not impressive in terms of weight, cost, etc.

Those factors will improve significantly in the next 2 years or thereabouts.

I think you have a totally valid perspective on this and shared among many, but personally I don’t really get this “but there’s not much to do on it” stuff. I bought it knowing exactly what it does. It’s the best movie theater I’ve ever been to. It completely replaced my iPad to the point I’m selling my old one. I edit documents, write a lot (with a keyboard) browse the web, play games, have immersive experiences. You name it I do it.

And this is a gen 1 product. I remember having the first iPhone in 2007 that couldn’t even copy and paste, picture message or change wallpaper. This is definitely a much more fleshed out product than than iPhone 1 was.

A lot of people expect a version 5 or 6 device when the first one just came out. But that’s ok. I think it’s gonna take a few generations and updates but as time goes on, more people are going to see more things it can do and be like “ok I’m ready to jump on board”. I already saw that happen with Mac ultra wide display. I know people that didn’t buy it until that one feature came out and then it made sense. Coworker of mine “why buy 3 studio displays when I can just buy a Vision Pro right?”

Well said. I didn’t buy it till AVP OS2.1 came out. Installed 2.2 beta immediately after buying.

Fact is within 1 year, the OS improved so much. Am now hoping for more improvements in 2.3 and eventually 3.0.

Recently bought it for 2 trips and enjoyed it on the flights, both for editing photos and videos on the Mac and watching ATV/Disney+.

Tried it on a long ride on a bus too and the travel mode worked really well. I felt that I was on a plane even though the bus ride was very bumpy and I didnt encounter motion sickness.

All in, was very happy with it in its current form and am looking forward to more features over the next few years. The thing about Apple product is that they add features after you buy it, unlike many other products that is static and you will have to buy the next version for enhanced features.

For those who decided to wait, please do. I too waited and got it in early Nov. Jump in when the features interests you.

Hardware wise, the next version will definitely be better. But by then, I would have throughly used the current set and maximise the cost. Get a second hand set now at a good price and sell when the new set is available and you may not suffer that much depreciation :)

I'm just gonna say having used the theater mode in it while it's great, it is NOT a movie theater experience not even close. You do all these things you can do on your computer anyways much quicker and easier great good for you, but that isn't going to be most people. When I say there isn't much to it, I mean there aren't a lot of apps etc for it.

Also of course it is more fleshed out than the iPhone 2G was, they've been developing it for nearly 10 years, the iPhone was a lot of insane tech that no one even realized existed and yeah you had a lot of people complain about simple things when it came out, but the vast majority of people thought it was amazing. Also the virtual monitor in it is not a replacement for studio displays. Like I said, the only feasible way that it goes from being a very niche product, to just a kind of popular product but still kind of niche product like meta quest is either an insane price drop (won't happen) or carrier subsidization (will definitely happen) and hopefully by then, it gets controllers, a wand, etc. I definitely can see them making it significantly lighter and smaller, putting most of the power inside of the battery pack instead of on your face.

Eh. People whine about price until they’re blue in the face but the fact of the matter is sometimes expensive things are just worth it. The next comparable headset in terms of quality is the varjo headset and that’s $6,000. People follow everyone else in comparing it to a headset that’s sold at cost like the quest 3 and it makes no flipping sense

Apple vision might not be worth it to you at this price point, but neither is a maxed out MacBook Pro to me. But is it overpriced for what it is? Nah. This is an expensive product to that is meant to be expensive and focus on a certain group of people. That group will expand over time

My opinion on this product has gone back and forth over the past year but the more I watch interviews with Apple execs, read the leaks and watch the developers events (not wwdc) the more I can see what they’re trying to do. Tim himself said it’s not a mass market product and then when it doesn’t become a mass market product, people call it a failure. Real lack of brain cells on the internet

Apple vision 5 years from now and 10 years from now is going to be a whole different story. And yeah. I went to a movie recently and the theater experience was much less fidelity and disappointing than my Vision Pro so I couldn’t disagree with you more on that

Must be a real crap theater then. And I’m not sure I’d call it a failure but all indications show that it’s doing worse than Apple or analyst expected it to do but it’s not really Apple’s fault.

The only headset out there that does remotely well sales wise is Quest 3 and 3s, which is also aggressively marketed by Meta. Any good quality set is still very low volume. Even with Quest 3 doing better, it’s not like it’s doing crazy better and even at $300-500 price with lots of stuff packed in, from what I gather the most it’s sold is 2 million worldwide total, and according to Meta, it still doesn’t actually make them any money. Besides that there’s just several things to overcome about headsets in general before more people get used to the idea of it and Apple didn’t really seem like they wanted to help consumers overcome those hang ups at least for now. I’m still skeptical that vr/ar in its current forms can ever be anything more than a niche category and there isn’t any indicators out there that point to otherwise.

Even when the iPhone first came out, there were naysayers who said that it will fail badly as the iPhone didn’t have physical keyboards.

Today, naysayers are saying something likewise too. Time will tell. If it is such a failure as you claim, why would meta be interested in coming out with something likewise. Surely they must have seen how much of a “failure” the AVP is…. based on your reasoning.

Personally I believe in what Apple is doing. During my recent trip, I took spatial videos so that my family can enjoy them in years to come.

If you don’t like it, then just continue to use your quest(blackberry/nokia equivalent). These are in different leagues. Fact that you are in this forum probably means that it has at the very least spiked your interests, just that for now, you don’t think it is worth your money.

Everyone decides for themselves how they spend their money, so I will respect your views. Cheers!

No sorry, but I'm tired of people doing these iPhone and AVP comparisons. I was there dude. It was nuts, and even people complaining about it acknowledged it was nuts. It wasn't to long after the reveal that Google admitted they had to start over Android. Also I never said AVP was a failure, I said it hasn't sold as well as analyst expected, and there is just things about the product category that are incredibly difficult to overcome.

Also Meta already makes a higher end product. I've used it. I've used ALL of these products. Did you read any of my post or no?

I have the quest pro for two years already. It’s extremely crappy for what I paid. Never again!

I did read your posts. In post 13, you made comparisons with iPhone so I was responding based on that. Just wondering why you are entitled to do so and when others do it, you get sick of it?

Say what you want but I too went thru it and businesses and news channels were still stuck on blackberry for a few years.

And since you mentioned that Google revised Android after the launch of iPhone, did you not know that Google just announced Android XR last month, with Samsung making the headset next year, as a Vision Pro competitor?

I used the Meta Quest before too and it is no comparison at all.

Anyway, every product has its target audience and if you don’t belong to it, it’s perfectly fine.

Sales wise, I agree with you totally. Sales is slow. But I spoke to many who tested it and the main reason they didn’t buy was the price. Not many are able/willing to pay such a high price. My friends said that if it is priced around 50% of current price, they will jump in immediately.

Fact is that while all the naysayers of the AVP continues to whack it, Apple has been working hard to improve the software and add features to it. Within a year, the AVP has improved a lot. Looking forward to what the new year may bring.

On this note, Happy New Year. If I offended you in any ways, I apologise. Cheers!

“People” seem awfully salty about it but I bought one a week ago and it’s my favorite Apple device ever.

Most people are willfully ignorant or just outright biased against it if they don’t understand apples plan. Tim Cook literally said it’s not a mass market device and not intended for that and when it doesn’t sell in mass market numbers (but still very good numbers) people call it a failure. On what world does that make any sense?

This project is about laying the foundation for a future product line that hasn’t materialized yet. The “vision line of product” probably won’t exist for 5 years as development continues. This is basically a sneak peak. Technology will get smaller. Lighter. Cheaper. Better in every way. This is just common sense

“If it was cheaper, but it’s not!” But it will be

“If it was lighter! It’s too heavy!” It will be lighter with more power

“If there were more apps!” No **** right? A brand new category of products comes out and it’s got a limited selection of apps? Who would’ve thought?

the price of the vision pro is ignoring the cross compatibility, You need to be in the apple ecosystem to use all its features. You need a mac OS device too, and maybe an ipad.

Yup, because ALL headsets right now are what you could think of as "early access" VR/AR. Its not for everybody.

They're all bulky. They're all heavy, pretty uncomfortable, dorky looking, etc.

That's a function of the available technology vs. what the developers are trying to achieve with the platform. There's a pretty severe minimum spec required for any headset, otherwise they make you sick due to VR motion sickness, etc. What we have now is based on the failed attempts in the 1990s where we learned that tech was WAY far off at that point. Right now we're on the edge of being able to deliver something good. Vision pro isn't that yet, but its further along than anything else right now.

Meta is trying to get the price down for mass adoption and the Quest series is about as cheap as they can make it. Apple are not. Apple are trying to get the spec up to see what can be done.

Its similar/cheaper to what hololens was, and far superior capabilities.
