When will Apple update all their products together?

I'm finding purchasing from Apple a real minefield. At the moment, everything Apple that I have is out-of-date and I'd like to update, but the time never seems right. Here's my Apple (and other) gadgets and why I can't update:

iWork: I have '08 but no point in updating as '09 is now 2yrs old.

iPhone 3GS: No point in getting the 4, need to wait for the 5.

Apple TV: Lack of HDD and analogue audio out makes the ATV2 no good for me.

iPad: The iPad 2 is barely an update, not worth the money to upgrade.

MacBook Pro: I want a 13" to replace 15", but should really wait for the redesign and require a matte screen (not currently avail on 13").

OSX 10.5: I know 10.7 is coming so no point paying for 10.6

External HDD: Would like one but should probably wait for a Thunderbolt one.

Apple must be losing a lot of trade if there's more people in my position. Feels like they need to update everything all at once so people can buy a new Mac with a new OS, new iWork, new iPhone, new iOS etc. etc.

If they updated everything all at once then people would lose interest until that time of year.

Because, i'm guessing:

- very few people want to replace everything Apple they own at the same time, much better to spread it out.
- Apple Stores would not cope with the sudden demand, meaning they end up giving poor customer service, delays, etc.

Basically, it makes terrible business sense.

That's not really true.

The iPad is current, so isn't their iMac, MacBook Pros. apple TV was updated earlier this year and so it isn't out of date. Mac Pros are on a long update cycle, MBAs are due for a refresh. Who knows about their software as apple can take a very long time.

An update to the iphone is probably coming out in the fall. OSX is being updated for a summer release.

So your point of everything apple isn't really accurate is it.

You realize you're only talking about 26 bucks don't you. The point of not paying for an upgrade makes no sense when its so cheap.

Back in the day, when apple was on the PPC platform, some of their computer lines went years before seeing a refresh. Heck the PowerBook was stuck on the G4 for eternity. Now people complain because apple updated the MBP a few months ago and they want a newer model

Yes, it is true. Read again what I wrote and you'll see I was talking about the Apple products I own, not Apple products in general.

Seeing how old your stuff is, it's not like you haven't had a chance to upgrade any of it. Apple's update cycles work just fine and spread out the spending over a year.

Maybe it's you that's just not updating when you should and are now stuck waiting ?

If you need 26 bucks, then its possible you shouldn't be buying apple products given their high price.

Apple products are great in that they last a long time, i.e., still work great when they're out of date. If you're very price conscience and you want the latest and greatest, then apple products are not a good fit for you

Given their increasing marketshare, I'd say you're right. Apple has always been about premium products.

If you need one,buy it.Thunderbolt won't make any difference unless you want to daisy chain other thunderbolt devices.

When there is no apparent complaint from the market at large; when the "problem" you create and want to identify as a problem (which has no basis in objective reality); when you attempt to justify, legitimize and project your own restlessness, dissatisfaction and unfulfilled desire onto others, you need to come to the realization that the problem is with *your own* perceptions and evaluation of the situation.

You are merely projecting your Self onto the market at large. "Out of date", "outdated", etc. All these only have any basis in reality when they no longer serve your needs. But they must serve your needs - not your ego. Do they no longer serve you? If you are doing heavy video editing or you are pushing your hardware to the absolute limits *all the time* - then perhaps you have some basis for wanting more. Or . . . are you simply trying to keep up with the people next door, or down the street, or at the office? If so, you will never be happy. You'll only ever experience the suffering that comes from perpetual dissatisfaction.

Eliminate or reduce your desire for things you do not have, and *increase* your satisfaction with how well what you *do* have serves you, and how well you take care of these things.

OP, you're right. You have nonfunctional relics that are no better than a pile of c**p. I'd consier a platform change. You should get a Dell.
