When will Canon release a 4K DSLR?

When they go 64bit on their hardware, otherwise I can't really see how they can record more than 10 minutes of real-4k video that is production-value.

Canon has made a 4K DSLR for a couple of years - the 1D C. Basically a 1DX with video extras. Prices have come down, but it is still expensive. I'd guess the next 5D will have 4K and this will trickle downstream over the following months.

Seems like Canon's focus will always be photography...I wouldn't hold your breath for them to catch up in video specs. If you want something right now, Panasonic GH4 and Sony a7r II are amazing cameras, and if you're already invested in Canon glass, you can get a Metabones adapter.

The problem here is the existence of the Canon C100 and C300.

As long as they're putting their video energy into that line I don't see why they'd expend much effort to make the 5D better at video. It's already really good, if you want the absolute best in video I'm sure they'll steer you towards the one of the C cameras. There's only so much overlap a company will do with their products.

But both Panasonic and Sony have 4k dlsrs?

Even a simple gopro can do 4k...I doubt it wouldn't trickle down to the entry level Canon DSLRs, it's only a matter of time. Just wondering why its taking so long
