When Will Demo IPADS be in the Apple Stores?

You can at least turn to past history - have MBPs or other Macs been available to try prior to release to the public?What about iPhones? I'd imagine they'd have the demo iPads in store, once they start selling.
So you'd likely see rumors with pictures of store refurbs coming prior to release
So likely US: End of March.
They don't need to wait for the 3G ones to be released to have demo versions of the wifi only iPads in store as by April one version of iPad will already be selling.
As for other countries - i'd imagine once they are officially selling them, then you'll see them. Can anyone think of an Apple product that is launched in the US, that has yet released in other countries, but where those other countries' Apple stores had demo versions? That's another indicator.

If history is any guide, there will be "floating" demos; i.e., in the hands of employees, not tethered to the table, on the day they go on sale. A full table of demos will be available next day.
I'm assuming Apple will do the typical Friday 6pm launch, close all stores a 4pm deal. However, if Apple puts them on sale at regular store opening, then maybe employees will have set up a demo table the night before.
What is guaranteed is that Apple will not have demo units available until it actually is available for sale.

My local store said they expect to have them around a week before launch.
But no idea whether he had any facts to back it up or if he was just guessing.

The reason for that was bad weather conditions in China and shipping was unavoidably delayed so that for a while the stores only had a few for demo; that wasn't the original plan, though. Usually they have the new product available for purchase on the day they first display it.
