also, does it hit Apple stores before other retailers such as amazon?

If past performance is an indicator, probably available in Apple Store and online immediately. Other retail outlets...who knows. However, can you not wait 24 hours?

Thanks. Someone's birthday is coming up and I wanted to make sure I could get her this in time. If not, I was going to get something else. I would rather buy from amazon since it's tax free and I have 2-day shipping. But again, if it won't arrive in time, I was going to find something else.
