Hello All, I'm new to this site. I have been waiting for the release of the new OS to buy my first iMac. Does anyone know when iMacs ordered from the Apple Store will ship with SL installed (rather than buying an iMac and upgrading it)?

Also, any compelling reason to wait on an iMac purchase now that SL is available?

I plan on buying a 20" iMac for my wife as her email/web/photo machine. She doesn't play games or do anything to intensive with it. The 24" iMac is too big for her desk.

Thanks for the help!

Or if you buy BTO, it'll likely have Snow Leopard pre-installed. I think it's better to have disks for both 10.5 and 10.6 because Snow Leopard is going to be a lot buggier than Leopard is atm so if you find it too buggy or an app isn't working on it, just install Leopard

QFT. Sad but true. You can bet that the .0 release will have some major issues.

I think SL won't have so many bugs because basically, it's just rewrote Leopard with few new features

True SL shouldn't be as bad as Leopard for .0, but its general way to approach upgrading to new releases. It should be expected that it wont be perfect.

Holy Cow! What kind of iMac did you order for $3,200???

Also, are you saying that ALL iMacs shipped from Apple Store after 8/28 will have SL installed, right out of the box?

Lastly, what was your rationale in making the purchase now vs. waiting for a price drop (maybe in Q4) or new model (maybe in Q1 2010)?

Thank you very much for your answers.

Top of the line iMac, + 8 gigs of Apple RAM would be my guess.
