I have been waiting for the iLife package. How much longer. Apple really should have had it ready to go after the announcement to take advantage of the hype. I guess if Apple were originally in fact planning to charge a higher price for the full suite and decided at the last minute to only charge for iDVD, they may have had to 'de-bundle' the contents to make them independantly downloadable.

Anyways...I cannot wait...

Some say it will be the 31st, some say it will take longer. Some say that the CDs or the apps were buggy, some say they are just waiting for the new iMac lineup. Who knows? Only time will tell.

This could be one more reason for Apple wanting to abandon the expos - it's a deadline that always seems to come weeks/months ahead of when the announced products are actually good to go. All the press and buzz drummed up by Steve fades into annoyance the longer these delays last.

We've all heard the 'waiting for new hardware' rumor - which would be great if true, but wouldn't Apple have known this ahead of time themselves???

As for the apps being 'buggy' could this also have something to do with the Keynote issue on iBooks - the software was tested on newer faster machines, but tanks on 'older' models - could be the same with iMovie as it seems to be quite graphics intensive for the photo 'pan-and-scan' feature.

Also, maybe 10.2.4 is not ready to go as in an integral component.

Totally agree Apple needs to get away from the 'expo' mentality. If they do have an expo, wouldn't it be best to have it around August to lead into a strong year-end Christmas quarter? Many say this is a make or break period for Apple, and with people waiting for the January expo, who buys stuff around Christmas. Then again, if products are delayed they will shoot themselves in the foot (can't win here if not careful)

Best bet, Apple, don't announce stuff you cannot ship on schedule, or stuff that takes longer than expected. I am sure there ain't too many people out there buying new hardware (waiting for he new rumored iMac line and 12" and 17" to finally arrive).

iLife looks great...the features look great...but I am sick of looking...

I seem to remember January 25th as being the release date for some reason. Am I off??

If it was the 25th, why couldn't they just put it up for download for those of us who will not be buying iLife.

heh, guess you haven't been keeping up with the news... yes the original release date for iLife was the 25th, as Steve said at the Expo, but it was delayed for an unknown reason, and the Apple site changed from "Coming January 15th" to "Coming Soon"... but now it seems pretty clear that it will be here within the week

it's not an uncommon thing for a company to announce a product even as much as three quarters away from it's release. Nor is it uncommon for a release to be delayed *much* longer than a week.

have patience. i've been waiting for quark on X for how long, and you have to wait another week. boo hoo.

Apple have gotten themselves a reputation for delaying product releases. The Mac community is actually quite supportive - as I am sure it is established die-hard users that buy the latest software or download the free updates.

If Apple really want people to switch, they have to keep good publicity and that in part means living up to delivery promises.

If iLife wasn't ready, that is a problem Apple needs to address. MWSF would have been a hit without announcing iLife. If iLife is delayed due to some software mastering problems, Apple should say so - then their will not be such bad feelings toward such announcements.

I am sure they would have everything out the door if it were ready, there is no reason to delay, but they have set themselves up for a fall by announcing stuff, giving a date, and then missing it.

I love Apple, I have used Macs for nearly 12 years now. I can wait a couple of days, no problem. But, why give a schedule when one cannot be met? Apple can't afford not to get stuff out - noone is buying new hardware because of the wait - which means a slow quarter for Apple. iLife is 'mostly free' but why will people pre-order if the delivery is off? $50 for iLife is nominal, but I do feel sorry for all those people with long waits on pre-ordered AluBooks.

I guess my few days wait is nothing much...but like most people, I hate the wait!!
