iPhone 15 Pro Max When will it ship after pre-order?

I've never done a pre-order before (nor bought Apple). I'll be out of town in a few weeks, when will the phone ship? Will it give me an estimated delivery date before I buy it? I don't want it sitting on my porch for over a week when I'm not home. Would I be better off just going to an apple store over the weekend and hoping it isn't sold out?

Also, what are your thoughts on 1TB drive? I was going to get 512GB but not sure how fast that is used up with these high resolution pics and videos?

you can order online then choose the option for self collection @ your nearest apple store

Depending on where you are from. For U.S: Technically once you pre-order tomorrow, they will start creating labels, you can only track it on UPS with phone number or web order number and if you have UPSMychoice it will show up there too as long as the address and your name match. However you won't get the actual Shipped email from apple till at least after Wednesday, which is when the Import scan will happen.
