So Macs with 120Gbps are unlikely to be released in 2024?

According to this, 120 Gbps TB5 devices should be relased by 2024. Apple has a history of incorporating TB, so it seems we should be seeing TB5 AS devices at that time. According to the 2nd link, the TB5 standard supports 120 Gbps USB4.

has a spec even been released for 120 Gbps? i've seen one for 80.

it's fine. just waiting for thread where some one is trying to use a USB-C cable rated for power only
and complaining their 120 Gbps monitor doesn't work or only works at a resolution of 640 x 480

Yep. USB c is incredibly frustrating and exacerbated by the fact that most manufacturers prioritize fast charging and put USB 2 in small print under some absurd wattage rating.
