I'm just wishing it was $999, or at least $949. I really didn't want to pay as much as they're asking, even though it's fully worth it.

Anyone know how long it takes for the EDU discount to drop some more?

The discount has been $50 for the $799-1099 price range for some time. If you REALLY want to save on a MacBook get it off of Amazon right now. No taxes and a better rebate beat the educational price. At least until Apple has a summer mail-in rebate. I got an additional $100 last year.

I bought mine in one of the local Apple stores (around Dallas, TX) and paid $999 for the base MacBook with educational discount.

I did notice that the web site was $50 higher.

Anybody else have a similar experience buying locally??

I should test this out. Sadly, I won't be able to until at least Friday.

Oooh. Someone please try this and let me know.

Did it automatically come up as $999?

I would do that, and love saving the 50 bucks that way.
