Place your bets! (though, there isn't really a prize) :)

Yeah, I'm not too optimistic either, though still hopeful.

Probably around the event this summer. They'll probably talk about it.

Very could well be that timing.

However, unless the app is released on 4/26, Best Buy jumped the gun and made an error in their ad by stating that it can be used with the iPhone.

I've been waiting for this...

Hope it's coming out soon. I had heard early March, but then that deadline came and went.

I'm thinking that with the announcement of the 3.0, they are waiting until after that's released to launch the app. Don't know why they're dragging their heels, unless they like the continuous buzz. Don't they want our money already though? ;)

I heard somewhere AT&T asked Apple not to approve it because they don't want people using it over 3G. So Sling Media may have to go back and rework it to be wi-fi only before it'll be on the app store.

I am not questioning you saying this...

However, I have a friend that has a BB Bold and he watches slingbox over the AT&T 3G network all the time. I wonder why AT&T would limit the access for one device but not for all? I certainly hope they do not limit slingbox to only wifi.

Because there are a lot more iPhones out there. That would be a huge bandwidth usage to allow iPhone to use a Slingbox over 3G. Plus, they can control what goes through the App store, so they actually get to have a say. Of course it will work, but AT&T doesn't want that much data going over their 3G network.

Don't understand

I have a hard time understand this one? That's like saying i have electricity in my house but don't want to turn on the lights for fear of burning out the light bulbs.
If this is true it would indicate AT&T's network is not as they market it and actually a poor quality.

Maybe someone can offer a better reason behind that but for the moment I'm having a hard time buying that.

At the iPhone hacks section.
Orb is doing the same thing and they let it stream thru Wifi and 3G.
So why not Sling? Its not like every iphone user has a slingbox at home, or even an iphone compatible slingbox. Most people dont even know what sling is or does.
Lets see how it goes, hope they let it at least work thru Wifi so then jailbroken phones can hack it to work thru 3G/Edge.

Just because the retarded carriers in the US (AT & T) dont like it, why should Apple not approve it? The iPhone is sold in a lot more places than the US. Give the US a limited WIFI only version and let the rest of us have a 3G and WIFI version. Simple. :)

I am officially ticked off, why is this taking so long. Does Apple have one guy reviewing all these apps, come on already you have made us wait long enough!!

I hope it gets released soon too. Although, I would bet money that it will be WIFI only. Unless, they are waiting for 3.0 to come out and AT&T to speed up their system.

the iPhone already dominates the mobile internet usage category. I can only imagine how much usage would go up with an app like this. I know I would be watching stuff all the time. So would most everybody here.
