Hi, I'm just wondering when the new official version get's out?
Is it a release date yet?

March/April 2012.

The final version includes a full VM with Mac OS X 10.5.8 for all your PowerPC-apps (works like the Windows XP mode in Windows 7 64-Bit). I heard this rumor from a semi-reliable source.

Lion should also support certain third party "motherboards".

:)

It's quite a big change so maybe with re-freshed MBP's.

It's anybody's guess.

They were refreshed less than two weeks ago... and I bought one. Now they're going to be refreshed in the Summer :roll eyes:

How long have previous OS releases stayed in beta? Has Apple followed a typical pattern of releasing the first beta x number of months before the actual release or has it been all over the map?

With any software there usually is a target date however any wise manufacturer will only release when the product is ready. Wise companies would rather miss a release date than release a product before it's ready to be used.

I don't want Apple to stick to a release date, I want them to do a public beta test for Lion with updates to the Lion Preview build to make sure that all the bugs are stamped out like how Microsoft handle their beta process with Windows 7. They should release Lion once it is completely stable. Lion as of right now, is actually very stable for me in terms of the OS but the interface itself is very buggy.

Windows 7 became a successful OS release because of the massive public beta test process. If MS didn't do this, W7 would've been another "ME" version.

Like most people said there's no release date besides summer. Which with Apple usually means on the last day of summer.

Haha dont worry. i got my iMac late december and I'm already hearing the iMac may be refreshed relatively soon.

Well what about requirements at least? Do we know what hardware it will run on or will be needed?
