It seems the store availability date keeps shifting forward as time goes on. I've never seen the backlog take this long to clear for any Apple product. What the heck is the deal?

This is surely hurting AirPod sales as most people who aren't obsessed with Apple will just buy an alternative device.

March 8, or you can do what I did and go to istocknow.com and sign up for the alert. I got an e-mail on Saturday that a nearby Apple store got stock and sent a friend over there and he picked up 2 pairs of Airpods right before they sold out. I then cancelled my online order which was scheduled to deliver March 8.

Dang just looked at apples site and it says 6 weeks or March 23 before the next wave hits. That sucks. Why is this so hard for apple. Same with the watch. I don't get it

The store pickup date given on apple site doesn't really mean anything.

Hard to predict just how popular they're going to be. Very popular, crazy popular or insanely popular.

Apple doesn't offer many "cool fun impulse buy toy" items under $200 and almost everyone already owns something that works with AirPods.

Huge ongoing US wave. (hit Europe and Japan earlier)

When NY hold stock for more than 12 mins, you may start to think the drought is ending.
