When will we get YouTube PiP?

When will we get YouTube picture in picture? That's really the only video app I'll use for it...and it'd be great! They will do it right? (Apple will allow third party?)

So I just found out that if you play a YouTube video from Safari it gives you the option for PiP.

Update: okay so, scratch that. It apparently only works if the video is embedded in a website?
