I've noticed now when I get a call and it's just the small banner notification, and I answer it, the phone's screen remains active and my ear starts activating the touch screen...

How should I be answering these calls to avoid this?

I believe if you go into the call screen itself (either by tapping on the call banner at the top after answering or by tapping on it before answering and then answering it) then the proximity sensor will deactivate the screen when you put the phone to your ear. Not sure why it doesn't really seem to do it otherwise since it really should be doing it no matter what state its in when you put it to your ear.

I have the same issue. I thinks it's a software bug.
