Are there any iPhone 7S and 8S models to be released?

As for iPhone 7S, it's highly unlikely as there is a current iPhone 8 to buy right now.

As for iPhone 8S, it's unlikely as well - seems like Apple is doing away with the s-cycle when they announced iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Or they sell the X separately and keep updating that one, while they creep up with 8s/9/9s on the "regular" iPhone. At any rate, we will almost definitely see new iPhones in September/October 2018, but their naming is unclear.

There wouldn’t be a “7S”, if the iPhone 8 already exists. Essentially the iPhone 8 is technically an ‘S’ model of the iPhone 7, because it’s a build off of the same platform adding wireless charging, True Tone, Glass backing, ect.

I have a feeling that once the Samsung Galaxy line caught up on the version numbering, Apple moved away from having the 'S' model to make sure they wouldn't be behind, at least as far as perception goes.

In my mind the 8 pretty much was the 7S (slightly improved camera, processor with big breakthrough;Apple GPU). I highly doubt there will be an 8S, which makes me kinda sad as I don't like the X UI/Notch.

Perhaps an equally interesting question would be whether or not there will be an iPhone 9 (and, if so, will it be a further continuation of the iPhone 6 general design)?

Right now i want to buy a cheap iPhone for my Dad and in that pursuit i came acress 6S models but i did not see 7S and 8S, so that made me wonder :)
Do u think the purchase of a 6S is a good idea for a user that doesn't need much tech stuff?

I’d bump it up to the 7, just to future-proof your Dad a little more.

Alternatively, if you want a cheap(but still relevant)phone, check out the SE. It has a smaller screen and the same internals as the 6S, so it’ll likely stay useable for some time to come.

4.7” model 6s is still good.

However the SE can be had much cheaper, but the screen is .7” smaller...

With same internals mostly

LOL... I brought new iPhone 6 a week ago from my local carrier. Much more cheaper than iPhone 6S. I think because it is new, it doesn’t lag as much as my old iPhone 6 did. I got 6 because it is cheap with discount (469 dollars CAD with 225 dollar Costco gift card, need sign 2 year contract, I cancelled the contract after 15 days, paid the entire balance at once, end up with 225 dollars Costco gift card). And most importantly, there is headphone jack. I absolutely refuse any phone with no headphone jack.

What are the bumps up that the 7 has compared to the 6S?

The 8 is what would have been the 7s, they just decided to drop the xs naming scheme so it sounds a bigger upgrade than it is (possibly because it has a somewhat different design over the 7 too)

The line should just be called iPhone
iPhone 4.7 LCD
iPhone 6.1 LCD
iPhone 5.5 OLED
iPhone 6.5 OLED

That sounds way too generic and lacks any marketing behind just listing the lineup for the iPhone to be called “4.7 LCD” or “6.1 LCD”, ect.

The numbering scheme for the iPhone is a huge part of the iPhone history and how it shows the newest iPhones from the older models, and I believe it will continue for 2018.
