With just over a month to go before Stevo takes the stage, it's about time for some nice leaks with spy photographs, bogus PS mock-ups and the like.

MacWorld is a consumer show and surely there will be something that capture the world's attention and imagination.

Of course there will be discussion of Snow Leopard, but as Apple admits this isn't laden with new features, that ain't gonna be it.

As MacWorld focusses on consumer product, the Mac Pro that we know is coming also isn't going to be it.

The laptops have just been done and the iMac we redesigned too recently to receive anything but a tech bump.

A new Mini may come, but surely it won't be the star of the show.

Push notification may be of interest to all iPhone users, but it isn't the stuff of headlines.

Tablets? UMMacs? AppleTV 3? A further foray into our living room? Networked media? Something that hasn't been tossed around over the years? What on earth will it be and where are the leaks? It's time!

They can chat about the technologies behind Snow Leopard for a little bit. Show off some iPhone apps. iLife/iWork '09 could take up about 30 minutes. Throw in the usual "look how successful we are!" intro and the iTunes Plus expansion and that's a wrap.

I really hope we'll get more than that. The timing feels right for a tablet. Leaks have been pretty old. That reminds me of when the iPhone came out. A few years of dead rumors and ramblings and then BAM, iPhone.

Of course I'm usually wrong so take that with a grain of salt.

I'm getting really excited about this MacWorld because there haven't been any major leaks.

It seems that Steve Jobs has plugged the holes and wacked the moles™ :D

I like being surprised and with the entire MacBook and iMac lines and Cinema Displays having been updated, and with the iPhone months away from any major upgrade, it seems as if we'll get some big news on the Mac Mini, Mac Pro or something entirely new.

I stand corrected on the iMac.

Re: the remaining Cinema displays and the MacBook Pro 17" – they have predictable updates and will likely be released quietly.

Nonetheless, this MacWorld will no doubt hold some surprises considering little to nothing has been leaked so far.

- The 17" MacBook Pro will probably be released quietly. Maybe a week before MWSF so that Steve can shortly refer to it.

- The Mac Pro is not a machine which is typically updated @ MWSF (like last year, it was updated quietly just before the event, IIRC).

- New Cinema Displays seem logical, but nothing unpredictable... will there?

- iLife '09? I wonder.. I wonder. Usually rumours about new apps in an upcoming update of iLife or iWork do surface.... nothing yet, though.

- Snow Leopard. Well, nice to show off a new dev build with fun new features (albeit that those features -OpenCL, Grand Central, QuickTime X- are mostly developer's stuff..) and how crackingly fast it is... I hear a <BOOM!> :D

- iPhone 32 GB? well... yeah... sure....

So, what's left?

^ Exactly. ;)

That is what's got me excited: because most of Apple's lineup has been taken care of and the usual suspects for MacWorld releases have had little chatter, something completely new, a whole new category perhaps will see the spotlight at this upcoming keynote.

I'm hoping for 2 things:
- Apple continues to push into the living room: tv Take 2 was a great development but continues to fall short of the potential for Apple's take on the living room entertainment.
- iPhone's bigger brother. A new Mac Touch that takes full advantage of the App store for touch apps but on a larger screen better suited to couch surfing, communicating and entertaining.

On the other hand, Mac mini is ripe for a major revision and this would be the place to do it. It could definitely live up to being the star of the show.

It is the fact that little has been leaked that leads me to believe that a very high level, top secret product will be the feature of the show.

If it were something like iLife or a revision to an existing product, we'd hear about it through the usual leak channels.

Whatever is being introduced, is something that Steve Jobs is holding very close to his chest, only allowing a small group of trusted people in for a peak.

A new MID (Mobile Internet Device). A little bigger than an iPhone, probably about the size of a Kindle.

A new Apple TV with better power consumption and maybe a real video card.
