Latest news has been Appleinsider saying that the Mini was going to be discontinued.

I've been waiting for the Mini to be updated to Core 2 Duo and 802.11n. I've been waiting for what seems like an eternity. I haven't heard any rumors about what might replace the Mini. Surely somebody must know what Apple is thinking in this area. Have there been any rumors?

The only complaint I have about the Mini is that I'd rather it be a little large and accommodate a 3.5" drive so that I could put in a terabyte drive and really use it as a media server.

There's something about the mini that keeps making Apple get all weird and creepy. First was when they bumped the G4 speed and didn't tell anybody. They were almost as quiet about dropping the Core Solo at the bottom end, that was an offhand remark in an iMac press release. It's almost like they've been afraid that people might buy them.

I'm expecting that the next mini generation or its replacement won't even be mentioned in any Apple literature or on their Web site. You'll have to show up at the loading dock in Cupertino, do the shave-and-a-haircut knock, tell them Lefty sent you, and pay in small unmarked bills.

'Mac Mini replaced with new Low End Mac'

Why? Surely thats what the Mac Mini is... You know, there are people out there who the Mac Mini is good for, for their email checking, music listening and web browsing. My 1.83 CD Mini with 2 Gig o' RAM is really quick. So I don't have a graphics card... Thats why I own a 360...

It's always the same, the arguments just keep repeating themselves...

With the iPhone release imminent, I don't think you're going to hear much about Apple that isn't iPhone related for the next 4 or so weeks - as you can see, the overwhelming majority of articles appearing on sites like this are iPhone related at the moment.
