Flashback:
1984. board game based war/strategy games are common place. I play with friends, my brothers, etc.
1988. BBS' (bulletin board systems) were all the rage. Turn based strategy/war games made their appearance. You'd log on to the BBS and check to see if it was your move (or you made one move a day in some cases). Political intrigue and war on an electronic format!
1991. Turn based computer games come of age. Empire consumes a ton of my time, with me and my brothers taking a turn and then leaving the room for the next person to do the same
1994 - 2009. Flash, color, movement, and instant gratification takes over. Not that I'm complaining.... I love the stuff. But turn based war games take a back seat.
So I ask all of you.... I'm sitting doing my turn of Scrabble on the iPad last night and then waiting until my facebook buddies take their turn sometime today, and it hit me: we need some turn based strategy games for the iPad! Where are they and why haven't people produced them (especially for the iphone since it's been out for a couple years).
I mean people will sit there and play farmville and We Rule, which is essentially the same thing (quasi-real time).... but when I try to play them I'm wondering why I can't make alliances and invade other peoples' kingdoms.
We need some turn based strategy games that you can play vs other people over the internet for our iPads. It's the perfect venue for it.
