I know, I know, shipping in the middle of September. But I have a niggling suspicion that they're going to ship out before then and somebody from the AppleInsider forums says:

"In any case, the est. ship date [for my Mac Pro with all-wireless and X1900] is Sept. 12th. I called Apple yesterday just to verify if that is the case and the rep that I spoke with said that they are pushing these systems out and he expects that mine will ship by next week."

God I hope so, the suspense is killing me. Does anybody have any sort of info about this? Any lucky bastards recieved theirs yet?

I have a very mixed response to this...

On the one hand, you just made extremely happy by giving me the mere thought that my Mac Pro could possible ship by next week.

Unfortunately, now next week I'm going to be checking my email every few minutes for a shipment notification, checking Order Status on the store just in case the email didn't get through, while in a state of frenzied hopeful excitement. I wasn't expecting to go into this state until the 28th. Plus, I'll be without internet in Whistler for a few days next week. Gah...

Thanks for the info though. Really, really appreciate it.

Apple hasn't had good luck in the past with such kinds of video cards. In fact, at one point, they were shipping orders with another video card and providing the proper card as they received them...months later.

Good luck.

Those long wait times could very well just be Apples way of hedging against what has happened to them from previous PowerMac releases.

If anybody gets their X1900 XT Mac Pro shipped, it is their utmost duty to inform the rest of us.

AND.. when they arrive they need to immediatly run some nice grahical benchmarks :)
In particular, GAME type ones :) I really want to flash the numbers in the eye's of my PC User friends :) My 7300GT is not that awe-inspiring :)

Although, while my computer is immaculate inside.. pretty even...
Their PC's look like cooked spaghetti that fell on the floor and they sound like harrier jets on takeoff :)

A lot of the spaghetti look is easily cleaned up, or taken care of by buying from a good PC vender (Velocity Micro, Alienware, etc.) One of the nice things about the Mac is the look/design, but you pay for that. You can spend much less on a Windows PC if you don't mind the spaghetti look.

A lot of the PC noise comes from the video cards as well. Again, this is easily correctable if you'd like, or from better products. PCs have the big advantage here though, as you have a tremendous amount of choice in video card products. I think that's really where the Mac Pro falls very short.

The Mac Pro gives you three video card choices? The best, the ATI 1900, is a slower version of what PC users get, and it can't be used in Crossfire mode. That's fine now, but not necessarily for the future.

The Mac Pro is pretty close to being a really perfect machine, if only they had better video options in it.

I have to agree on that point.

I have two Asus EN7800GTX256's sitting in my old windows rig, and I keep looking over at them wondering why the gaming gods won't come down and make even just ONE compatible with my new Mac Pro:)

The X1900 XT is just one step below the XTX, which is really only a factory-uplocked XT.

I couldn't wait... I wanted my Pro... NOW!!!

I had ordered it online... and then went to the Apple store at the Mall of America... I over heard one salesman saying they finally got ONE Mac Pro in of the shipment they were expecting... I practially broke his arm as I dragged him into the back to go get it, and I swear I heard whispers from customers as I carried the box up to the front whispering "My Precious.. My Precious.."

(sigh) I have to save money for the upgrade to the X1900xt also.... If only the cards I have now would fit :D

Somebody says that his non-X1900XT ship date has been pushed back to the 22nd, my crazy theory is that Apple ships CTO comps out in bunches weekly and they've pushed it back to include X1900XT-configured machines.

That is a pretty crazy theory, but lets hope that it is true!
