Jagshemash!

I was at school one day and saw someone using an iBook but it surprisingly had a glossy screen. I got a closer look and saw that he just put a shiny sheet/film over the screen. Nice... I like!

So anyway...

1) Do you guys know where I can buy one? (One big enough for my 24" monster of an iMac)

2) Would doing this have the same effect as the glossy screens on Apple's new laptops? (better color saturation, darker blacks)

i've seen stuff like that at office supply stores (office depot, office max, compusa) but i don't know if they still sell it. i think the actually product was made by xerox or 3M.

keep in mind i'm remembering this from years ago but these products obviously still exist!

edit: could it be the 3M privacy filters?

I heard that two and a half bottles of clear nail varnish will give the effect that you are looking for...

I would test an inconspicuous area of your screen first (maybe near a stuck or dead pixel)

Failing that any good household metal polish should give you a similar effect, but only if you remember to rub in even circles.

:)

no need to thank me.

I'd be scared to try that! :p If your being serious LOL.

nah, I was kind of playing.

My cynical side rushes ahead to the day the sheet gets wrinkly or distorted by heat, what would the adhesive do over time? could your screen be returned to its original condition?

...and if it wasn't actually in contact, what other light distortion would happen? moiré patterns?
Colour shift?

I know you were only joking, but if you did this, it would totally destroy your screen.

Especially METAL POLISH!!

For the vunerable; remember - don't trust this man! :p
