Where can I find Adobe Creative Cloud Douments on my physical hard drive?

Hi,

Forgive me for posting this here. I did google this, but most instructions and Adobe's forums are utterly useless.

Does Adobe Creative Cloud storage work differently to other Cloud Storage like Dropbox? Usually, by default what I see in Dropbox's browser interface is what syncs to my Mac.

With Adobe, I can see the "Creative Cloud Files" folder under my user name, but it's empty. Files I've created in Photoshop for iPad appear in Photoshop on my Mac. I can open them, re-save them, all good. But I can't figure out where the files sit on my actual hard-drive. I can use the "Creative Cloud" app to manage files – but I'd prefer to do this in MacOS. After all, that's what an operating system is for.
I'd consider myself a fairly seasoned Mac user. But this one is new to me.

Is Adobe trying to be clever? Do I need to tick a box somewhere? Or is this a bug... erm 'feature'?
The folder location set in the "Creative Cloud" app is defintely correct.

1. You can save your files in the Creative Cloud and they will sync to the desktop

2. Creative Cloud apps such as Adobe Aero, Adobe Fresco, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe XD let you save your files as cloud documents. With cloud documents, your edits get saved to the cloud in real-time.

When you save as cloud documents, these remain in the cloud and are accessible on any device.

Since you mentioned Dropbox, think of Dropbox file syncing (cloud <> desktop) and Dropbox paper, for example, which lives only in the cloud and allows for collaboration.

Is there a way to convert Creative Cloud documents to files? (Other than open / resave as a "file"). Couldn't find that function anywhere...

Maybe it's just me – but I would have expected better UX-Design from Adobe. Something like a cogwheel icon with a "Sync file to your CC desktop folder"

Any ideas why they make it so hard? Surely I'm not the only person who wants to quickly create a file in Illustrator on iPad and then open it in Photoshop on Mac.

Photoshop is raster-based (albeit you can work with vectors there as well), and Illustrator is vector-based. The correct workflow would be to open the cloud document in Illustrator. The fact is that whatever you do in Photoshop can likely not be transcribed back to the Illustrator Cloud Document, hence making it unreadable. The only way in my knowledge to bring an iPad Illustrator file to Photoshop on the desktop is to save it as a separate file on the desktop or as a Creative Cloud File. Or send it to the desktop as a PSD using AirDrop from the mobile app.
